Abstract

Project PEACE (Peace Education Activities for Contextualized Values Education) aims to integrate peace education into the learning experiences of students, grounded in their specific cultural and societal contexts. This initiative is designed to address the increasing need for values education that not only promotes peace but also respects and incorporates the diverse backgrounds of students. In a world where social tensions and conflicts are often fueled by misunderstandings and lack of empathy, fostering a deep understanding of peace and respect within local contexts is crucial. This study aims to bridge this gap by developing, implementing, and evaluating contextualized peace education activities tailored to the local realities of learners in Biñan City. Using a descriptive research design, the study involved purposively selected students, teachers, and school heads, employing pre- and post-intervention assessments, test instruments, and monthly implementation reports. Data were analyzed using weighted mean, mean percentage scores, and descriptive statistics to measure changes in peace knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Results revealed a notable improvement in students’ understanding of peace concepts, empathy, and conflict resolution skills, as well as positive shifts in teachers’ perceptions of integrating contextualized values into instruction. The findings also indicate that culturally relevant and activity-based approaches significantly enhance student engagement and application of peace-building practices. However, limitations such as the study’s short duration and localized scope suggest that long-term impacts and broader applicability require further investigation. The study confirms that contextualized peace education is an effective strategy for fostering meaningful values formation and promoting harmonious relationships within school communities. It further underscores the need for sustained teacher training, institutional support, and expanded research to ensure the scalability and long-term success of peace education initiatives in diverse educational settings.
